Reminders

Welcome back everyone to Term 4.

What a great start we had with Grandparent's Day on Friday. It was fabulous to have so many grandparents visiting A6 and sharing some of their stories when they were at school. We had grands and greats from as far as Gisborne! A6 students showed some changes in the classroom by writing their stories using the ipad. We did some reading, spelling and Maths together and everyone drew a portrait of 1 or more of their grandparents and made a frame for it.
Thanks for sharing the morning with us! It was a special time.

This term we are focusing on fairy tales for literacy...so get out those books and share some of them with your tamariki.

I'm impressed with how many students are wearing sunhats. Just a few need to remember to bring their sunhats every day...even if it looks like rain!!!

SUNFLOWER PAINTINGS

                                     Look at our fabulous artists.
                                     What a splash of summer.
We made some observational drawings of sunflowers and then painted our sunflowers                   onto fabric......perfect for some colourful cushions for A6 to use for reading!

Kia ora koutou from Monique Palmer and all the ACE students in A6

Welcome to our new junior team, Pukehāngi, with a special welcome to those families that are new to Glenholme School.  I am ready for an exciting year in A6 and looking forward to all the wonderful events coming up.

We are already busy in our classrooms, getting our reading, writing and maths programmes up and running, so hopefully everyone will have their stationery so they can participate in all the learning activities.

Swimming has already started for A6  and  we will be having it on odd weeks; week 3, 5, 7, 9.  Please remind your child to bring named togs and a dry towel in a bag every day when it is their swimming week.  Hats are part of our school uniform for terms 1 and 4, so let's be SUNSMART.

I'm really looking forward to our science investigation this term which is Geology and the study of Rocks. We will be collecting interesting rocks or fossils.  Please bring in to share with the class.  If there is anyone available to share information with our tamariki it would be greatly appreciated.

On March 11th, week 5, the Pukehāngi team will be visiting Paratehoata-Te Kōhea  Marae in Ohinemutu.  This is for our tamariki to experience marae protocol, to become familiar with the area’s history and observe the unique geology of the area. Watch this space!!
